Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies (ONAFT) is recognized in Ukraine and abroad advanced innovation research and training center for preparing the skilled staff for the national economy. Academy founded on October 20, 1902 as a school of specialists for the milling industry has stood the serious test of time and now rightly become one of the most prestigious educational and research establishments of Ukraine. For the great history Academy makes a significant contribution to the development of national engiringthought.
Today Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies is a multiprofile educational institution for training, retraining and advanced training of specialists with strong material-technical base, newest technologies and creative approaches in the educational process. The structure of Academy consists of 6 institutes, 11 faculties of daily and correspondence study, technical college, mechanical-technological vocational school, vocational school of oil and gas industry, vocational school of industrial automation, Institute of postgraduate education and advanced training for the food and grain processing industry, Centre of information technologies, school of small and medium business and school of foreign languages «Success». Almost 15000 students study in Academy by 38 directions and 175 specializations; postgraduate study and doctorate, 3 specialized scientific councils of defending the doctoral and master´s theses operate. The training process is provided by 51 departments, 732 teachers, including 94 doctors of science, professors, 388 candidates of Science, associate professors. Among the teaching staff there are 26 academicians and corresponding members of NAAS of Ukraine and branch academies of science, 18 honoured workers of science, education and culture, 7 winners of the State Prize of Ukraine and the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea in the field of science and technology; Honoured Inventor of Ukraine, 11 members of the International Cold Academy, Honoured teachers of Ukraine, 18 exemplary teachers of Ukraine.

Academy, which has the IV level of accreditation, successfully develops grade European training model: junior specialist, bachelor, specialist and master. The educational process is directed to the fact that each of the graduates could offer, accept and implement technical ideas, easily adapt to changing conditions in the workplace. From 2004 it is introduced the conducting of biannual job fair. It is formed the club of Academy´s employers, developed the modern model of polymorphic higher technical education focusing on the multifunctional nature of future engineering activity. The aim for the formation of specific professional skills of graduators based on the high basic training is a characteristic feature of training activities of Academy. An effective system of training content management through the formation of science-based requirements to educational-qualification level of professionals is created. This allows additionally with educational services in the fields of food technology, power engineering, thermal engineering, oil and gas transport, technological process automation, computer engineering, engineering mechanics and industrial ecology to implement the requirements of employers, individual needs of students and to extend the sphere of graduators´ employment.
ONAFT is a recognized leader in implementing the finished innovation developments in agriculture. The scientists of Academy study fundamental research problems in the areas of refrigeration and power engineering, thermal physics, electric energy, energy saving, ecology and information technologies. Since 2003 Academy participates in the implementation of the State scientific and technical program in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development. The scientific achievements are represented in international forums of investments and innovations.
Today Academy implements agreements and develops projects by 55 bilateral contracts with foreign partners. The dynamics of the current state of international scientific and technical cooperation is characterized by an increasing number of grants, participation in international conferences, congresses, symposiums and meetings.
Activities of ONAFT are recognized by European educational and scientific centers. Academy is a member of 11 international organizations, including Eurasian Universities Association (EUA), International European Association of Universities (EAU), European Federation of Food Science and Technology. In 2007 they signed the Great Charta of European Universities under which the role of Academy in promoting food science and technology is grown.
For high achievements in the preparation of highly skilled specialists and scientific achievements the collective of Academy awarded Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Order «For labour achievements» Diploma of the International Open Rating of Popularity and Quality «Golden Fortune». By results of work Academy annually enters TOP 30 higher educational establishments in the university rating by the UNESCO project «Top 200 Ukraine» and ranks second among 15 technological higher educational establishments in Ukraine.
Since 2003, Academy is headed by Bogdan V. Yegorov, PhD (engineering), Professor, Honoured Scientist and Technologist of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, Exemplary Teacher of Ukraine.
Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies confirming its high rating of educational establishment keeps up to the times, is successfully developing and trains competitive professionals.
